The Sprit of America was first introduced to the world on July 20, 2008.
It's the culmination of many years of experimenting with different types of folds to finally create a great looking paper airplane that really flies.
The Spirit of America marks a whole new generation in paper airplanes, and we hope it sparks your creativity. We think it's one of the best paper airplanes out there (despite all the others calling themselves the "best").
It's an homage to the Air Force-brat background of one of xplanes4u.com's co-founders, and the many awe-inspiring airshows he attended while growing up.

Watch the instructional video below and see how many tries it takes before you can fold and fly the Spirit of America. Good luck . . .
Because we know this plane can be a little tough to perfect, you can combine watching the video with this one-page instruction sheet to help you along.
Want to print the original Spirit of America as seen in the video above? Use this link for a PDF file (and be sure your page scaling is set to none in the print settings menu in order for the two flags to appear in the right locations).
And remember, you can find all the templates for the Spirit of America planes on our Templates page!
Once you can fold and fly the Sprit of America, you should show it off! After all, not everyone has the special skill it takes. So plan to take the Spirit of America challenge. Record yourself flying your version of the Spirit of America and post it online. Then let us know by emailing us at info@xplanes4u.com and we’ll post a link to your video.
For those of you who are Flyer fans, we've also got a set of Armed Services Flyers just for you.

In support of our fans in Israel, Iraq, Iran, and Afghanistan we've created what we call the Spirit of Freedom paper airplane templates, each with the flag of its respective country and that of the U.S.
These templates were created in recognition of the basic human yearning for freedom and in the spirit of solidarity with the people of these countries, and the troops fighting in them, as they struggle and endure through these challenging times.

And now we're proud to unveil the new Freedom Flyers--like the Spirit of Freedom planes, but in the American Flyer style. We hope you like them.
